92.9 FM ESPN Bracket Challenge
My baby. I created the logo and branding including splash page, landing page, homepage takeover, and eblasts.
The result: Memphis’ biggest local bracket contest with more than 2400 users in its first year. Though I’m no longer involved, it has continued to grow.
901 Day
Tomorrow is September 1, a.k.a. 9/01, a.k.a. the area code for Memphis.
I think 901 Day should be a local holiday — a day dedicated not only to reflecting on all the great things about Memphis but also on working to make it better. A day free of hating, as Tony Allen might say. Maybe local museums could offer admission discounts to foster cultural appreciation, volunteer organizations could host service opportunities… Neighborhoods could have block parties and open houses. And of course, a citywide day off work would be purely optional.
The day is being billed as a “hater-free Memphis holiday,” and guidelines for celebrating are intentionally vague.
“We just want everyone to do their own thing and celebrate what they love most about this city,” Clarke said. “We’re fun-loving people, but we’re harder on ourselves than we need to be. We give ourselves our own black eye and fail to see the things that make living in Memphis really awesome.”

During the 2013 NBA Playoffs, I got a chance to try my hand at sportswriting while working the night desk at Action News 5.
Grizzlies have a chance to make history
The Memphis Grizzlies just keep making history.
First came the franchise-high 56 regular-season wins.
Then, the team rallied from an 0-2 hole against the Clippers to win four straight games — in resounding fashion — to advance to its second Western Conference semifinal.
Then three of the team’s five starters were named to the NBA’s All-Defensive teams.
Now, in a matter of hours, the Grizzlies have a chance to unseat the top-seeded Thunder for their first trip to the conference finals.
